Sealed Touch Computers for the Machine, the Kiosk and the Line

An industrial panel PC puts the computer and the touchscreen in one housing, built into a cabinet door, a machine guard, a kiosk or a control desk. Panel-mount, open-frame and VESA-mount models replace a separate PC, monitor and keyboard with a single unit that sits flush with the panel, keeps dust and splashes out of the front and connects straight to PLCs, drives and the plant network over serial and Ethernet. We supply iBASE and Winmate panel PCs from 7 to 21.5 inches, with resistive, projected-capacitive or infrared touch, aluminium or stainless steel housings and IP65 front panels. If you need a panel-mount layout or a custom or OEM configuration, such as a different processor, memory, storage, I/O or operating system, tell us what the machine needs and we will discuss the options for each model.

Eight reasons a sealed panel PC keeps working at the machine, the kiosk and the production line where an office all-in-one would not.
Six of the eight featured models are fanless, cooling through the chassis so there is no fan to pull dust into the electronics.
An IP65 front panel keeps dust and water jets off the screen face, while the electronics sit behind the panel cutout.
Resistive for gloves and styluses, projected capacitive for multi-touch, or infrared on the large outdoor screen.
The INOSP-191-RE is built in 304 stainless steel, with 316 as an option, for areas that call for a stainless housing.
Compact 7-inch HMIs for a machine door, through to 21.5-inch full HD screens for kiosks and control desks.
RS-232/422/485 serial sits alongside Ethernet and USB, so older PLCs and new networks connect to one unit.
Panel cutout, VESA arm, wall or open-frame mounting, depending on the model, to fit the cabinet or the kiosk.
Up to 1200 nits on the outdoor IDOOH-210-IR, with 250 to 350 nits on most of the indoor models.
Where industrial panel PCs are used: on machines and production lines, in food and pharmaceutical plants that are cleaned every shift, at kiosks and bedsides, and in rail depots and utility sites. Each block below describes the conditions and the jobs a panel PC typically does there.
On the factory floor a panel PC is the operator's window into the machine. Mounted flush in a cabinet door or machine guard, a fanless unit with an IP65 front keeps out dust and splashes through round-the-clock running, while serial and Ethernet ports link it to PLCs, drives and the plant network.

Food, drink and pharmaceutical lines are cleaned often and audited closely. A stainless steel panel PC such as the INOSP-191-RE, with optional M12 I/O covers, or an aluminium unit with an IP65 front, gives operators a sealed touchscreen at filling, packing and batching stations. Check the rating against your cleaning regime: IP65 covers water jets, not high-pressure, high-temperature washdown.

Operator HMI at processing equipment
Track-and-trace and production records
Quality checks and line clearance
Cleanroom and dispensary terminals

Kiosks, ticket machines and information points need a touchscreen that runs all day and fits neatly behind a fascia. Open-frame panel PCs such as the 7-inch Winmate W07IE3S-POT1 and the 21.5-inch IDOOH-210-IR build straight into an enclosure, and the IDOOH's 1200-nit screen and infrared touch are designed for outdoor sites.

Start with the screen size and the mounting. Measure the panel cutout or enclosure: compact 7 and 10.1-inch units suit machine doors, 12.1 to 19-inch screens suit operator stations, and widescreen 15.6 to 21.5-inch models suit kiosks and control desks. Choose panel mount for a flush fit in a cabinet door, VESA for an arm or wall, and open frame to build the unit into your own enclosure. Next, pick the touch: resistive works with gloves and a stylus, projected capacitive gives multi-touch and a flat glass front, and infrared suits large outdoor screens. Match the sealing to the cleaning: an IP65 front keeps out dust and water jets, while a stainless steel housing with sealed M12 I/O covers suits stricter hygiene areas. Then check the operating temperature, the power input (12V or 24V DC, wide-range DC or mains AC) and the ports you need, such as RS-232/422/485 serial for PLCs alongside Ethernet and USB. If no standard model fits, ask about panel-mount or OEM options for processor, memory, storage, I/O and operating system.

An industrial panel PC is a computer and touchscreen in one housing, designed to be built into a machine, cabinet door, kiosk or control desk rather than sit on a desk. Compared with a separate PC and monitor, it takes less space, has fewer cables to fail and usually seals at the front to IP65. Featured examples run from the 7-inch Winmate W07IE3S-POT1 to the 21.5-inch iBASE IDOOH-210-IR, and most are fanless with serial ports for PLCs and older equipment.
A panel-mount unit fits into a cutout in a cabinet door or machine guard so the front sits flush and the IP65 front seal does its job. An open-frame unit has no outer cosmetic housing and is built into your own enclosure, which suits kiosks and OEM equipment; the W07IE3S-POT1 and IDOOH-210-IR are examples. VESA mounting fixes the unit to an arm, pole or wall bracket. Many models support more than one method, such as the IPPC1202-RE, which offers panel and VESA 75/100 mounting.
Resistive touch responds to pressure, so it works with gloves and a stylus; the IPPC1202-RE, IPPC17A7-RE and INOSP-191-RE use it. Projected-capacitive (PCAP) touch gives multi-touch gestures behind a flat glass front, as on the W07IE3S-POT1, BYTEM-101-PC and ASTUT-W153-PC. Infrared touch, used on the 21.5-inch IDOOH-210-IR, suits large outdoor screens. If operators wear heavy gloves, tell us, so we can match the touch to the job.
IP65 means the front is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. On a panel PC it normally applies to the front face once the unit is correctly mounted in its cutout, while the rear sits inside the cabinet. IP65 is not a rating for high-pressure, high-temperature washdown, and none of the featured models is listed as IP69K. If your cleaning regime uses pressure washers or hot water, tell us before choosing a model.
Yes. The iBASE INOSP-191-RE is a 19-inch panel PC built in 304 stainless steel, with 316 stainless steel as an option. It is IP65 rated, and optional IP65 I/O covers with M12 connectors and an IP56 stainless steel 24V DC power adaptor are available. Tell us how the area is cleaned and which chemicals are used, and we will check the right configuration with you.
A fan pulls air, dust and moisture through the electronics, and it is usually the first part to clog or wear out. A fanless panel PC cools through its aluminium or metal chassis instead, so it can run sealed and silent with fewer moving parts. Six of the eight featured models are fanless: the W07IE3S-POT1, BYTEM-101-PC, IPPC1202-RE, ASTUT-W153-PC, IPPC17A7-RE and BST-1850.
The featured models cover 7, 10.1, 12.1, 15.6, 17, 18.5, 19 and 21.5 inches, in 4:3, 5:4 and widescreen formats, and the full panel PC range on rugged.co.uk runs from 4.3 to 27 inches. Small screens suit machine doors and compact HMIs; 15.6-inch and larger widescreen models suit kiosks, control desks and outdoor information points.
Yes, with the right model. Most indoor panel PCs run at 250 to 350 nits and wash out in direct sun. The iBASE IDOOH-210-IR is built for outdoor use, with a 21.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display at up to 1200 nits, infrared touch, an IP65 rating and an internal heater that lets it operate down to -40°C. Its upper limit depends on the sun: 50°C under 900 W/m² of solar energy and 44°C under 1120 W/m².
Most indoor panel PCs are rated from 0°C to between 40°C and 50°C, depending on the model and sometimes on whether an SSD or a hard disk is fitted. The IPPC1202-RE runs from 0°C to 50°C with SSD storage, the IPPC17A7-RE from 0°C to 45°C and the BST-1850 from 0°C to 40°C. For outdoor enclosures or cold sites, the IDOOH-210-IR operates down to -40°C with its internal heater.
Most featured models combine Ethernet and USB with RS-232/422/485 serial for PLCs, drives and older equipment. The IPPC1202-RE has four COM ports, digital I/O and a PCI slot; the ASTUT-W153-PC has two isolated RS-232/422/485 ports plus an RS-232 port; the Winmate W07IE3S-POT1 has two Intel Ethernet ports and two USB 3.2 ports. Optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are listed on several models, and the ASTUT-W153-PC also lists optional LTE and RFID.
It depends on the model. The W07IE3S-POT1 and IPPC17A7-RE take 12V DC, the ASTUT-W153-PC takes 12V to 24V DC, and the BYTEM-101-PC has a wide-range DC input. The BST-1850 runs on 12V DC with an AC adaptor included, the INOSP-191-RE can be supplied with an IP56 stainless steel 24V DC adaptor, and the outdoor IDOOH-210-IR runs directly from 90V to 240V AC. Tell us what supply is available in the cabinet.
Newer platforms such as the Winmate W07IE3S-POT1 list Windows 11 IoT Enterprise, Windows 11 Pro, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or Linux Ubuntu 22.04 as options. Several of the iBASE Atom-based models list Windows Embedded Standard 7 or Windows 7 Pro for Embedded, so if you need a current operating system, ask us which models and versions are supported before you order.
